August 18th Farley, IA   Sprint Invaders

For the 3rd night in a row with Sprint Invaders, Joey would find
success early on.  Winning heat race and Winning the trophy dash.
Joey would fight a tight race car for the first half of the race, but as the
race went on the car would come in.  Joey was working on leader Jon
Agan ,preparing to make his move when unfortunately he broke a Right
Rear wheel, ending our night as well as our chances.

3 Races 3 Nights
August 13th New Berlin, IL  Shepp's  Jim Moughan Sr. Memorial

Faced with a tough decision on this day.  Joey chose to take his
chances against the 410's and run the 360 at his Grandfathers
memorial.  On a very tacky track Joey would Qualify 9th.  Severely out
Motored Joey would run 5th in his heat, and would start the feature
9th.  Feature conditions were still tacky from the start but the track
slowly came to us as Joey was able to pick off some cars, and actually
was running 5th at one time during the event, but would finish a close
6th.

August 12th Canton, IL    Sprint Invaders   Tom Knowles Memorial

Just like the night before,  Joey again would take flight in his heat.
Winning by a very comfortable margin,  Joey would draw the number1
pill in the dash.   The Dash would be much the same as Joey again
walked away from the competition,  though Joey was being persued by
his uncle Jim Moughan who would run 2nd.  Joey again rolled a 1 after
the dash which meant the feature would line straight up. Thus putting
the two Moughans on the Front Row.  The track was on the verge of
taking rubber, but had yet to actually do so.  Joey gambled and decided
to tighten the car up a little bit more thinking that it would help him get
out front and when the rubber finally comes in he would just have to
protect his line in clean air.  Jimmy decided to go the same route but
mistakenly forgot to tighten his Left Rear Shock.  This proved to be a
blessing allowing Jimmys car to manuever much better on the Rubber
down surface.  From the start Jimmys car was dominant, and Joey
fought hard to pursue his uncle, but the car was just too tight.
Smoking the Right Rear tire most of the race, Joeys tire would finally
give way while running 2nd with 2 laps remaining,  relegating Joey to a
dissapointing 12th place finish.

August 11th, Jacksonville, Sprint Invaders Herb Barlow Memorial

Joey Picked right back up from where he left off with the Sprint
Invaders.  Winning his heat going away, Joey would run 3rd from 5th in
the dash.  In the Feature Joey ran a close 2nd for most of the race.
After several laps of searching the track Joey found some rubber with
about 5 to go.  Joey used the rubber to pull along side the leader with
2 to go,  but was immediatly slammed out of his line.  After quickly
gathering the car up Joey charged back but fell just short of the win
finishing a close 2nd.

August 5th and 6th Columbus Junction,IA and Quincy, IL

Joey Moughan from Springfield, IL took the checkered flag Saturday
night at Columbus Junction, IA with the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint
Invaders. Starting 6th in his heat race he was able to pass 4 cars and
take over 2nd as he secured a spot in the Dash. He finished 2nd in the
Dash despite numerous challenging attempts by Bobby Mincer to
challenge, which lined him up 5th overall with the invert for the
feature. He wasted no time jumping into second and challenging Bobby
Mincer for the lead pulling alongside several times on the waning laps.
On the last lap Joey was able to slip by Mincer as his power plant
expired coming out of turn #2. Sunday Joey traveled to Quincy, IL with
the 360 to challenge the 410 Midwest All Star series where he would
race to a strong 7th place finish to conclude the long weekend of
racing. Hicks Racing will be back in action on Friday September 11 at
Jacksonville Raceway, September 12 at Spoon River Speedway in
Canton, IL, and tentatively planning to run September 13 at Quincy
Raceway taking on the Ideal Sprint Invaders in the September Trio.
Hicks Racing’s 8H would like to thank Maxim Chassis, Carey Racing

August 29th  Sprint invaders   West Liberty, IA

Another good night.  Joey started off the night with a solid 5th to 3rd
run in the heat.  In dash Joey would draw the 6th spot, coming from
rear of dash, Joey passed into second on what he thought was the final
lap.  After being passed Joey realized he had slowed down a lap early
and had to settle with 4th.  Starting 6th in Feature Joey ran a close 4th,
battling a faulty wing slider all the way.

August 21st   Sprint invaders   Jacksonville, IL

In a night that we drew a number 1 pill,  Joey was quickly put behind
the 8-ball as i was penalized for Jumping the start.  Coming from rear of
heat Joey fin 4th.  Lining up 10th in feature,  Joey worked up to 3rd with
5 to go and was making it interesting until the late caution.  After hitting
a huge hole and almost losing the car Joey was forced to take the 3rd
spot.

August 12,13,14,15   Knoxville Nationals

In first career Nationals Joey was poised to do well.  Going out late to
qualify Joey was able to qualify an impressive 14th of roughly 60 cars.
In heat we had some minor setup issues and ran 7th putting us in the
B.  Starting 6th in the B the 55b was on the move and with 4 laps to go
was running a solid 4th behind S.Kinser, J. Haudenshild, and G.
Hodnett, when the mag let loose.  Loosing the timing gear and ending
our night as well as our Nationals.

August 7th and 8th Ironman 55

This weekend proved more than anything that it pays to lucky.  Both
nights the team drew a 55 and 54,  and both nights same story.  2nd and
4th quick early both nights, only to watch the track go away by the time
our number was called.  We qualified 27th and 28th of 39 and 40 cars
respectively.  In heat action night one was better the night two as the
slicker track yielded a wider and racier place.  The Baker Racing 55
maneuvered from 7th to 4th locking us in the show, only to be
penalized by our qualifying time, forcing us to start the race from 23rd.
After going a lap down Joey wisely pulled the car in to save it for next
night.    In  heat race action the next day, again we would start 8th and
was on a move but fell just short of the transfer position, finishing a
close 6th.  In the B we would face the Same old Story,  Starting 11th
passed up to 6th place in the 10 laps.  2 spots short of the transfer,
thus ending our night.

July 31, 2009

Fresh off a decent run at Canton, IL.  The Baker Auto Team headed to
Jacksonville , IL for the Leon Smith Memorial.  In a good night the team
Qualified 10th, Ran 2nd in the heat, and ran a solid 4th in the main.

July 24th, 2009

After a first time run at the Prestigious King's Royal, Joey
and the Baker Auto Team traveled to Spoon River
Speedway for a run with the Midwest All Star Circuit on
Friday night.  The night couldn't have gone any better with
Joey qualifying third quick, followed by a strong fourth
place run in the Heat, and an impressive fourth place finish
overall in the A-Main, despite a collapsed nose wing mid
way through the night.

July 22nd, 2009         Dana Godfrey Memorial

Another good night.  Joey fin 2nd in heat.  Joey ran a solid 3rd most of
feature until some minor brake issues, relegating Joey to a solid 5th
place finish.

June 13th, 2009

In search of some seat time and some luck.  Joey headed to Belleville,
IL  for a another night with the Powri Midgets.  Driving the Modern
Paving 55b Joey was able to start the night off with a heat race win.  In
the feature Joey would again experience some bad luck.  After starting
the race in 8th spot, Joey running 6th was just biding his time and
trying to take care of a strong car.  A Lap 4 contact would send Joey
spinning to a stop in the middle of turn 2.  Not to be discouraged Joey
lined back up relatively unscathed.  Only to be involved in another
unavoidable pill up just 4 laps later.  This time the damage was pretty
substantial making the car very unconfortable to drive, nonetheless
the 55b hobbled home to a 13th position.

June 6th, 2009

Hoping for some better luck, the Baker Racing team made our way to
the beautiful Lawrenceburg Speedway.  Rolling out for practice Joey
was 10th quick, But a busted shock would hinder the qualifying
performance, timing in at 30th quick.  In the heat our luck continued as
a narrow track surface and stagger issue, relegated us to 6th spot. One
spot out of the final transfer.  After making a few adjustments, Joey and
the 55b set sail in the B-main, starting 13th joey quickly made it up to
the 6th position. After a brief caution though our run would be cut
short as Joey made contact with Bill Rose's Right Rear as he was
attempting to make the pass.  The collision sent the 55b hurdling into
the fence, thus destroying the car as well as our weekend. We will
regroup and try it again at Canton, IL on the 19th of June.

May 30th, 2009

With alot of studying and preparation from the weeks past, Baker
Racing again made our way back to the famous Knoxville Raceway.
This week we would find success in some of our changes.  Showing
improvement almost immediately on the track.  Joey timed the Baker
Racing entry in 18th in the loaded field.  Making the inversion and
putting us on the pole of heat 3.   In the heat Joey was able to check
out on the field, winning by a sizeable margin.   Our slip in qualifying
though would line us up 14th on the A-main grid,  Nonetheless, at the
drop of the green, Joey was able to drive the Baker Racing 55b up to
8th spot.  Unfortunately our seemingly good run would have to come to
an end on lap 7, as the car developed a vibration and had to be shut
off.  A blistered Right Rear tire seemed to be the culprit and the team
will live to fight another day.  We are hoping to carry our good run into
next weeks WoO  Races at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

May 23rd, 2009

After a strong night at Columbus Junction and a week in between to
think about changes, Baker Racing made its way to Knoxville to try it
again.  Early on in Practice and Qualifying, the changes we made during
the week looked to have helped us, as we Qualified 11th.  In our heat
we again missed it though as we made some adjustments in the wrong
direction,  finishing 6th in the heat.  In the A-main we finished 15th and
fought the car the whole time.  Though in all we did learn alot and hope
to make the car better for next week, as Baker Racing will again head
back on Saturday to try it again.

May 22nd, 2009

No Silvercrown and No Charlotte trip planned,  Joey turned his
attention to CJ Speedway and Columbus Juntion, IA.  Joey again
driving Jeff Hicks 360, was able to run a solid 5th in the heat.  Starting
13th in the A-main Joey made a fantastic drive to 2nd by the time the
shortend 20 lap race over.

May 16th, 2009

After a tough night at Knoxville Joey headed home to run a rare
Sunday night show at local Shepp's Speedway.   Joey Drove Jeff hicks
360 to 2nd fast time right out of the box.  In the heat Joey lead wire to
wire to earn a spot in the 4 car dash.  In the greasy and wet dash Joey
would finish 4th.  Starting 4th in the feature Joey engaged in a good
battle with his uncle Jim Moughan before finally taking the runner up
spot.  Joey was able to run down eventual winner Jimmy Hurley several
times but with lap traffic and not enough laps couldn't make the pass.
Joey finished 2nd in the feature and would also like to thanks Shepp's
speedway for having us.

May 15th, 2009

After fighting local storm damage from the previous weeks from the on
land hurricane that hit much of southern Illinois, Baker Racing headed
to yet another famed 1/2 mile.  This time it was Knoxville, IA.
Unfortunately we really fought the car all night and the results
showed.  We qualified a dismal 22nd and were close in the heat but
missed the transfer by 1 spot.  Thus putting us in the back of the B
because of our Qualifying time.  In the B we fought the car to finish
7th.  Two spots out of the show.

May 8th and 9th, 2009

On Friday Baker Racing headed to the famed Eldora Speedway for a
two-day show with the Outlaws.  The first night saw us time in 22nd of
the 35 entries, that started us 6th in our heat taking the top 5 to the A.
We were able to fin 5th and were solidly locked in the A when mother
nature again took over ending our night on the count of rain.
On Saturday we were able to spend some time with the fans and get
the car prepared during the day.  When Saturday night rolled around
we timed in 23rd this time and fin 6th in our heat.  The finish put us in
the B but we were able to fix some of our handling issues and make
the transfer running a solid 4th.  In the feature event we just didn't
make all the right calls and settled for an 18th place finish.

May 2nd, 2009

After being rained out Friday night, and not having everything in line to
Baker Racing decided to call off the Saturday Knoxville trip.
Determined not to miss a night and valuable seat time Joey took his
midget to Beaver Dam, WI for a night with the BADGER Midgets.
Starting off the night the way the season has begun,  Ignition problems
would plague us most of the night.  Joey started the main of the event
in 16th spot.  With ignition problems out of the way Joey was able to
make it up to a 10th place finish.

April 25th, 2009

With a new day and alot of work ahead of us we headed to Haubstadt,
IN.  We made a stop on the way there at R & R Motorsports in Benton, IL
to work the bugs out of the car on their chassis dyno.  After fixing our
ignition problems we were able to qualify 20th, and finish 4th in our
heat.   In the  main event we were involved in a skirmish early on in the
race.  Though it was light contact, it was enough to Break a RR
birdcage.  As a result we ran 19th.

April 24th, 2009

Baker Racing made our way down to West Memphis hoping to turn
things around a bit, but unfortunately we soon discovered we would be
plagued by mag and fuel problems.  The issues couldn't get resolved
as the night went on and we finished poorly because of it.   We
qualified 28th,   Fin 7th in our heat, and ended up missing the show by
1 spot in the B finishing 5th.

April 17th, 2009

The Baker Racing team made our debut last night at Paducah , KY.
First night with the World of Outlaws and the Baker Team made a good
top ten qualifying effort.  But unfortunately that would be the hi point of
our night as the new power plant expired midway through the heat.
We plan to regroup and be ready to head to West Memphis for Friday.

March 29, 2009

Joey Moughan in the Modern Paving 55b brings home a 10th place
finish in the Duquoin Powri Midget race.  Joey started of the night with
a runner-up finish to Matt Westfall in the ten lap heat,  holding off Tracy
Hines in the process.  The finish guaranteed a 14th starting spot in the
40-lap a-main.   Joey progressed through the field up to the 8th spot by
the half-way mark, but some minor break issues began to hamper our
performance.  Relegating Joey to a decent 10th place finish.  In all it
was a good tune-up for our upcoming season, and the Baker Racing
55b will be primed and ready for the April 17th Paducah WoO show.

Mighty Mighty Midgets!!!!!!  tis the theme for this upcoming
weekend.  Baker auto racing will be getting a tune-up this weekend as
we plan to attend the March 28th Powri Midget race at the Duquoin
State Fairgrounds.  Both Joey and Jeff will take part in the action, as
Jeff will also be driving his Evinrude E-tec D33 midget, and Joey will be
driving the Modern Paving 55B.  We are all anxious and excited just to
get to race after a short off-season.  Hopefully this will help prepare us
for our first race of the year.

Look for the Baker Auto Racing Auto & Salvage & Towing 55b Racing
Team to be at a track near you.

The newly formed 55b team,  with "the Shockman" Jeff Davis as the
team manager, and David O'Donley of O'Donley Engines overseeing the
motor program, they should be a force to be reckoned with.

Jerry & Jeff are  very impressed with their driver, Joey Moughan.  The
Moughan name is very well known in the Midwest with Gentleman Jim
Moughan and his son Jimmy Winning many races throughout the
years.  Now Gentleman Jim's grandson, "Joey" Moughan is already
turning heads in the Midwest with success in his young career.  Jerry
& Jeff hope to have great success working with this young gun, and a
really great young man.

410 & 360 racing is in store for the 2009 season.  They plan on racing
with the World of Outlaws and Selected ASCS races.  The team plans on
visiting the Knoxville raceway several times throughout the year, and
of course racing at the Knoxville Nationals in August with "the
Shockman " Jeff Davis tuning the cars, and David O'Donley running the
motor program, the Baker Auto/Salvage/Towing 55b should be a force
to be reckoned with.
Look for their Fluorescent orange & black 55b at a track near you.
